Algeria is one of the more difficult countries to gain entry to;
According to the official website, you need to obtain a visa at the embassy closest to your home country, and you need to provide proof of a hotel reservation. It appears that most visa issuing posts aren't following these antique laws, but beware they might still exist in some outpost.
